Accommodations and Travel

The AACR has recently been notified that some conference registrants are being solicited by an unauthorized company trying to obtain credit card information by phone and email to secure housing accommodations at this conference. All information regarding travel and housing accommodations is available on this webpage. The AACR will not contact you by phone or email requesting credit card information. Accommodations

The conference will be held at the Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, set in the heart of downtown and just 2 miles/3.2 km from San Diego International Airport. A reduced conference rate of $206 per night was available to conference attendees until Monday, December 16, 2019. The hotel will accept reservations at the reduced conference rate on a space-available basis until the cut-off date. Reservations made after this date will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at the nearest available rate. Applied to the room charge will be state and local taxes, currently 12.27%. Reservations must be guaranteed with a major credit card at the time of reservation. No deposit will be taken at the time the reservation is made. Cancellations will be accepted at no charge 72 hours in advance of arrival. Note that check-in time is 3 p.m., and check-out time is 12 p.m.

Travel to San Diego

The closest major airport to the conference site is the San Diego International Airport (SAN), located approximately 10-15 minutes from the hotel.   • Garry will research the best flight options and provide several choices that fit your needs.
  • A one-time minimal transaction fee of $30 will be clearly listed along with flight pricing.
  • For your security, CT will require a signed credit card authorization form before they can process payment for your flight.

Ground Transportation

Many ground transportation options are available upon arrival, including taxi service, private car service, Uber, car rentals, and shared shuttles. Taxi service between the San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is approximately $10 one way, plus gratuity. Learn more about shuttles and taxi service.

International Travel

Researchers from more than 50 different countries around the world regularly participate in AACR meetings and conferences. The Association encourages and appreciates the contributions of international researchers at our programs. If you plan to attend this AACR conference, please contact the American Consulate in your country to review the current regulations for travel to the United States. Obtaining the proper documentation may take several weeks or months, depending on your location, so we encourage you to contact the consulate as soon as possible if you are considering attending this conference.
