Angus K. Pratt, MBA, an affiliate member of the AACR who was a patient advocate for male breast cancer and lung cancer, died December 4, 2025, at the age of 67.

Pratt participated in the AACR Scientist↔Survivor Program at the AACR Annual Meetings in 2023 and 2025 and also served as a social media ambassador for the AACR Annual Meeting 2025. He became an affiliate member of the AACR in 2024.

“Angus Pratt was an extraordinary advocate who never hesitated to ask the hard questions or challenge the status quo,” said Carrie Treadwell, MBA, senior director for patient advocacy and engagement at the AACR. “His unwavering focus on access to the best treatments and quality of life for every patient changed policies, influenced research, and improved lives.”

A resident of British Columbia, he participated in a wide variety of activities with the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) after being diagnosed with male breast cancer and lung cancer in 2018. He was a patient representative on the CCS Advisory Council on Research.

Pratt also participated in activities with the Canadian Medical Association and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, among others. He maintained a blog until shortly before his death.

Born in Keith, Scotland, in 1958, Pratt received a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Saskatchewan in 1981 and a master’s degree in business administration from the same institution in 1991. He worked in community development in Saskatchewan before launching a career as a freelance website designer and developer.

He was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal by the governor-general of Canada in recognition of his cancer advocacy.
