Harvey M. Golomb, MD, retired professor and former chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago, and a member of the AACR since 1978, died August 20, 2025. He was 82.

Golomb earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Chicago in 1964, and a medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1968. He completed a residency at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Chicago. He joined the faculty in 1975 and remained associated with UChicago until he retired in 2023.

He rose to the rank of professor and became chief of the section of hematology/oncology in 1981 and was named the Lowell T. Coggeshall professor of medicine in 1998. In the same year, he was appointed chair of the Department of Medicine and served in that capacity until 2005.

Golomb served as dean of clinical affairs and chief medical officer for UChicago Medicine from 2002 to 2011. He was president of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in 1990-1991.
