Irwin H. Krakoff
Irwin H. Krakoff, MD, a pioneering oncologist and cancer center leader, died August 9, 2023, at the age of 100.
Gerald Litwack
Gerald Litwack, PhD, a retired professor of biochemistry, a prolific author, and a longtime member of AACR, died September 29, 2023, at the age of 94.
Susan M. Love
Susan M. Love, MD, MBA, a breast cancer surgeon who revolutionized patient care and advocacy, died July 2, 2023, at the age of 75.
Worta McCaskill-Stevens
Worta McCaskill-Stevens, MD, former chief of the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Community Oncology and Prevention Trials Research Group and director of NCI Community Oncology Research Program, died November 15, 2023, at the age of 74.
John A.R. Mead
John A.R. “Tony” Mead, PhD, a longtime member of the AACR, died February 20, 2023, at the age of 92.
Roland A. Pattillo
Roland A. Pattillo, MD, AACR Emeritus member, passed away May 3, 2023, at the age of 89.
Gloria M. Petersen
Gloria M. Petersen, PhD, a respected genetic epidemiologist and pancreatic cancer researcher, died January 8, 2023, at the age of 72.
Jeffrey W. Pollard
Jeffrey W. Pollard, PhD, a member of the AACR whose work contributed to improved understanding of the biology of breast cancer, died May 1, 2023, at the age of 73.
Franklyn G. Prendergast
Franklyn G. Prendergast, MD, PhD, emeritus professor at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science who was the first Black director of an NCI-designated cancer center, and a longtime member of the AACR, died October 12, 2023, at the age of 78.
Susan M. Samson, MPH
Ms. Susan M. Samson, MPH, passed away January 25, 2023, at the age of 78.
