Holbrook Edwin Kidd Kohrt, MD, PhD, assistant professor at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, California, died February 24, 2016, at the age of 38.
Kohrt was known for his research and clinical trial work on novel immunologic treatment approaches for leukemia and lymphoma. He was a member of the Levy Laboratory on Lymphocytes and Lymphoma at Stanford, then started his own laboratory in 2012.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Dec. 14, 1977, Kohrt received a bachelor’s degree from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, before attending Stanford University School of Medicine, where he served as a Baxter Foundation scholar, Howard Hughes Medical Institute scholar, and American Society of Hematology fellow.
Kohrt joined the AACR as an associate member in 2010 and transferred to active membership in 2013. He was a member of the Cancer Immunology and Tumor Microenvironment Scientific Working Groups and an invited speaker at several AACR conferences.
