Daniel P. Griswold Jr., DVM, a longtime member of the AACR, died February 9, 2021, at the age of 92.
Griswold was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on November 15, 1928. He earned his degree in veterinary medicine from Auburn University in 1951. Following graduation, he worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and served in the U.S. Army.
Griswold practiced veterinary medicine in Birmingham and Homewood, Alabama. Following his father’s battle with brain cancer, Griswold turned his focus to cancer research. He began working for Southern Research Institute, built a long career in research, and authored many journal articles and books.
Griswold joined the AACR in 1967. He was also a member of the Cell Kinetics Society and the New York Academy of Sciences; was a committee member of the National Cancer Institute; and served on the editorial boards of numerous cancer publications, including Cancer Research.
