In Memoriam: Chung S. Park

Chung S. Park, PhD, professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo, died January 18, 2016, at the age of 74.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Jan. 14, 1942, Park attended Seoul National University and then served as a second lieutenant in the South Korean Army. After several years working at a dairy company, he immigrated to the United States and received a master’s degree from the University of Georgia, a doctoral degree from Virginia Tech University, and postdoctoral degrees from Purdue University and Virginia Tech.

Park joined the faculty at NDSU in 1978. His research involved tumor cell development and a stair-step heifer development system for use in several species of domestic animals. Several national and international awards recognized Park during his career, including the NDSU Faculty Lectureship. He also served as a visiting professor at Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley, during sabbatical leave from NDSU in the mid-1980s.

Park was a member of the AACR since 2012.
